VEER | JABAL AMMAN
VEER is a design-build hospitality project in Jabal Amman, developed as a complete transformation of both its interior and exterior spaces. SX2 Design Build was responsible for creating a unified experience across the architecture, interior environment, outdoor areas, custom furniture, joinery, display units, lighting, landscape, and execution.
The design responds to the character of Jabal Amman while introducing a more contemporary hospitality identity. Rather than treating the interior, bar, furniture, and garden as separate elements, the project was developed as one continuous environment where material, pattern, light, craftsmanship, and greenery establish a recognizable character throughout.
A hospitality space shaped through warm light, patterned surfaces, custom joinery and layered greenery — bringing interior, exterior and landscape together as one experience.
VEER was designed around the idea of creating an intimate urban destination with a strong identity during both day and night. The project combines warm architectural lighting, natural textures, patterned surfaces, custom fabrication, and dense planting to create an atmosphere that feels layered and established rather than overly designed.
Inside, the bar acts as one of the main visual anchors of the project. Custom-designed joinery and illuminated display units organize the bottle collection while becoming an architectural feature in their own right. Integrated lighting highlights the depth and texture of the displays, while wood, dark metal framing, patterned surfaces, and warm neutral finishes establish a consistent material language throughout the space.
A significant part of the project was developed specifically for VEER rather than selected as standard off-the-shelf elements. Custom furniture, bar seating, tables, built-in benches, display systems, joinery, and architectural details were designed to work together in proportion, material, and character. This approach allowed the furniture and fabrication to become part of the architecture rather than simply objects placed within it.
Pattern plays an important role throughout the project. Geometric surfaces and detailed finishes introduce character at a smaller scale, contrasting with the clean lines of the custom metalwork and joinery. These elements are balanced by softer upholstery, timber finishes, planting, and warm illumination, creating a space that feels detailed without becoming visually overwhelming.
The relationship between interior and exterior was equally important. Framed openings and transparent enclosures maintain visual connections between the indoor spaces and surrounding garden, allowing greenery to become part of the interior experience. Instead of creating a clear boundary between inside and outside, the architecture gradually transitions into the landscape.
The exterior was conceived as an urban garden within Jabal Amman. Existing architectural character is complemented by layered planting, integrated landscape lighting, intimate seating arrangements, patterned tables, and custom furniture. At night, the vegetation and warm lighting create a more enclosed atmosphere, transforming the outdoor area into a retreat from the surrounding city.
Throughout VEER, lighting was used not simply for illumination but as a fundamental design material. Concealed and integrated lighting emphasizes joinery, display units, planting, textures, and architectural details, while softer ambient lighting creates the intimate atmosphere required for the hospitality environment.
The result is a project where architecture, interiors, custom fabrication, furniture, lighting, and landscape operate as a single system. From the illuminated bar and purpose-built display units to the furniture and garden, every component contributes to the same visual language and guest experience.
VEER represents SX2 Design Build's integrated approach to hospitality projects: developing the concept, detailing the interiors, designing custom elements, coordinating fabrication, and executing the finished environment as one cohesive project.
